Friends of mine launched a medical mission to Haiti on Saturday dubbed “Team Rubicon.” The plan was to get the supplies, docs, and Special Forces medics into the Dominican Republic and convoy into Haiti and save who they could.

Since convoys have been attacked from the DR, you need to have security personnel who can sub as medics and medics who can sub as security personnel. So you send experienced operators – Soldiers and Marines.

Here is the first post:

And I’m recording the whole mission on BlackFive here (new posts on top):

The Jesuit Mission in Haiti has a walled in compound (about 300sq meters) near the P-a-P airport that can support the refugees in need of medical attention.

La Grange Park, IL – Military veteran and business leader Matt Burden officially kicked off his campaign for State Representative of the 41st District this morning by meeting with commuters at the Lombard train station.

“From day one I want everyone in the District to know that I’m here to serve them and it starts by listening to their concerns, issues, and opinions. That’s why I’m officially launching my campaign here at the Lombard train station,” said Burden. “I will continue to walk door-to-door, frequent the train stations and coffee shops, and meet with business and community leaders, school administrators, and service organizations like the VFW and American Legion until the polls close at 7 p.m. on February 2nd in order to ensure I best represent the critical needs of our district in Springfield.”

Burden, who travelled to Springfield on October 26th and was the first candidate to file for the State Representative office being vacated by retiring Representative Bob Biggins, believes we must create and retain jobs, lower taxes, implement fiscal discipline, and restore honor and integrity to public service…

“Illinois doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. For too long the hard-working men and women of the 41st District have seen their financial resources evaporate because of the tax and spend mentality that permeates the State House. That will change if I’m elected State Representative,” said Burden, who holds an MBA from the University of Illinois. “I promise to rely on my business experience and knowledge to bring fiscal discipline to state government and require us to live within our means by passing balanced budgets.”

Along with holding the line on taxes and spending, one of Burden’s other top priorities is creating and retaining high-quality jobs in our state and in the 41st District.

“While our hard-earned tax dollars are stretched thinner by the current economic crisis, our Governor tried to increase our taxes by 50%. There’s no common sense thinking in Springfield,” said Burden. “We must support business development and create incentives for business, small and large, to remain or relocate to Illinois. As State Representative, I will work day and night to implement a meaningful financial and economic recovery plan that puts people back to work and keeps good paying jobs in the Western Suburbs.”

Burden believes in order to improve the quality of life in the 41st District the State Legislature must also address education, health care reform, transportation, and community safety. Lawmakers must also pass ethics and campaign finance reform to clean up our government.

“Whether I’m talking to my neighbor or visiting Walter Reed Medical Center, everyone asks me what’s wrong with Illinois politics?” said Burden.” It’s no secret that we are embarrassed by the continued scandals and corruption that plague the Governor’s mansion, state and county governments, and city halls across this great state. Our elected officials have failed us. We must restore honor, integrity, trust and valor back into our state government.

“For more than 20 years I’ve served my country and my community with those very principles. I’m running for State Representative so the honest and decent men and women of the 41st District can look their children and grandchildren in the eye and proudly say to them ‘those days are over and we’re honored to have Matt Burden representing us.’”
